Eagle River to Glennallen, Alaska

After breakfast and saying our goodbyes to Ian, Jennifer, Summer, and Corey, we started on our way back to the lower 48.  After getting fuel at Fred Meyer, we headed east on the Glenn Highway.  The highway follows the Matanuska River for several miles.

We stopped at the Matanuska Glacier State Recreation Site to get some photos of the glacier while the sun was out.

After getting some glacier photos, we returned to the motorhome for lunch before continuing on our way.  Getting to a lower elevation, we drove through several miles of small ponds along the roadside.

We decided to stay at a no frills campground in Glennallen, and stayed at the Boardwalk Campground about 1.3 miles west of the junction with the Richardson Highway.  For $20.00 a night we have full hookups with 30amp power, water, and sewer and we’re able to catch up on laundry in the comfort of our RV.  Tomorrow we’ll be driving to Tok and are planning on up to two nights there as we’re thinking of driving the truck over to Chicken for a couple of gifts.

Good luck in finding the bumper sticker in Chicken. We want the bumper sticker for our new Jeep we are getting next year.
