7/6 - 7/9/09 - Teklanika Campground - Denali National Park

We spent 3 nights at the Teklanika Campground which is 29 miles into Denali National Park and the furthest one into which you drive your own vehicle. One of the requirements of this campground is that you have to stay there for a minimum of 3 nights...not a problem. We also purchased the "Tek" pass to Kantishna (at 91 miles into the park) which allowed us to ride the buses for the 3 days we were there. That was a lot of bus riding: 6 hours the first day, 10 hours the next, and another 6 hours our last full day in the park. This first photo is taken of our RV in our campsite which was #2 in the first loop. We were even able to get internet while there.
The caribou in the upper left corner of this next photo did not seem to be bothered by the grizzly and her 2 cubs.

They say that July is a poor month for viewing Mt McKinley due to lots of rain. As you can see in the next photo, we had beautiful clear skies and an outstanding view of the mountain.

After flying around for a short while, this golden eagle perched on a rock beside the roadway.
