7/29 - 8/1/2009 - Homer, AK

While in Homer, AK we visited the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center.
The Pratt Museum was really interesting. They even had a webcam of bears eating salmon out of the river in Katmai National Park. It was really fun to watch...until I found out it was a video they were playing from 2 years ago since they lost power to it that day.

We drove somewhere around 20 miles on the East End Road and had this moose cross the road in front of us. It only stuck around long enough for me to get this photo of it's south end as it headed north.

Homer is the fishing capital of Alaska and there are several halibut charters available there. Although we did not go out on a charter, we did get this photo of a nice catch of the day.

This is the famous Salty Dawg Saloon.

And a view of one of Alaska's hundreds of glaciers.
