8/26/2014–Fort Apache, Arizona and Kinishba Ruins

We were ready to play tourist for the day and after getting a recommendation from a friend we headed to Fort Apache, Arizona.  The Army post was established in 1870 to assist the Apache people to remain peacefully on their lands and to stem conflict between Native people and incoming settlers.

This log cabin was the original commander’s post.

1/21/2014–Arizona City to Quartzsite, AZ

We left Arizona City around 10am this morning and drove to join the thousands of boondockers in Quartzsite, Arizona

Along the way we passed a large prison facility between Gila Bend and Buckeye.

1

A view of some distant hills as we head toward Quartzsite.

2

As we got nearer to our exit in Quartzsite, we started seeing the many RV’s parked near the frontage road.

3

Choosing to avoid traffic at a busy intersection in Quartzsite, we headed north by Discount Solar and got on Hwy 95 north of town.

4

We drove north about 6 miles to Plomosa Road, then headed east almost 3 miles before turning to the left to meet up with Dennis and Carol.  They gave us a quick tour of their new RV and it is really nice and has a very fulltime friendly layout.  Once we got set up, we had to find a Fedex drop box so we drove back to one of the truck stops and took care of that.

Before heading back to the RV for the night, we called COD (our neighbors from Spring Branch, TX) and then visited with them at their campsite for a while.  Quartzsite must agree with them because they both look great!5

Back at the RV, I broke out the can opener and we heated up some chili for dinner….a culinary delight!

We have no special plans for Wednesday so we’ll see what happens.

1/20/2014–RV Packed & Ready To Go–Quartzsite Here We Come!

The ATV has been loaded into the utility trailer behind the truck and is ready to go!

1

Unfortunately, we’re too late for Escapees Happy Hour due to having to wait on some paperwork to arrive via Fedex.  It got here today, so we’ll be on the road in the morning.  Hopefully we’ll be able to meet up with some others to get in some ATV rides while there.  We’re ready!

8/9/2013–Grangeville, ID to Spokane, WA

After an enjoyable two weeks visiting and riding ATV’s with Lee and Barb, it was time for us to travel to Spokane for time with family in that area.

Our drive that day took us through wheat farming area and all photos were taken through bug splattered windows.
