On September 28th, we drove back over the bridge at Astoria into Ilwaco, WA to check out the visitor center at Cape Disappointment. When we were last there 12 years ago or so, they were in the process of updating it for the 200 year Lewis & Clark events.
This lighthouse is just south of the visitor center.
Lewis & Clark carried a 15 star flag with them on their journey like this one displayed in the lobby at the visitor center.
Looking to the south from the visitor center, we could see this ship entering the mouth of the Columbia River.
As we crossed the Astoria bridge 3 hours later, that same ship was arriving in Astoria.
